Missile Weapon Hunting

When hunting animals from a boat if you injure them
Sometimes they run, I read some where that if you
shoot them when they 'twitch' then they won't run.

I haven't tried it yet, does anyone know about the timing of this?
For example as soon as the animal twitches then you shoot, or do you
Just guess?

You shoot as soon as you see the animal twitch. And you cross your fingers and hope there is no lag.

Does it only work if you shoot them RIGHT as they twitch? like half a second after they do it won't work if you shoot?
