Chick feed Question

Hey guys,

How many units of feed does a chicken/cock eat every day? I'm going on a long vacation (3 weeks) and curious as to if I need to give away my chickens or if I can keep them.

I know about the 1 chick per coop and no mixing cocks and chickens, but curious as to if the coop will have enough food for 3 weeks without a re-fill.

Even if you fill the coop up, you'll still probably need a refill. 3 weeks is a long time compared to how things function in HnH.

You MIGHT save 1 chicken and cock for 3 weeks with a full coop. Make sure to fill it with eggs and move the hen to the bottom so none will hatch. Well, you can probably get by without filling it with eggs. It'll be full (or close to it) when you get back, though.

I think his idea is to have 1 chicken only on the chicken coop and 1 cock only in another chicken coop, so that the fodder last as long as possible.

I don't think anyone has done exact math on it, but with 9 birds (along with any chicks present in it), it takes a good 3 days to completely empty the coop of food. One in a coop will definitely work.

I can give you new chickens when you return, just give them away or kill em off.
