How do I get Learning Points faster than this method

Postby Jack » Tue Oct 13, 2009 1:47 am

I go near an apple tree with a well nearby, I collect branches and make a loom, then I destroy the loom, drink water and eat apples as needed.

I tried to get clay and make pottery (dont know wich one is the best cost benefit, tea pot seems the best), but considering the cooldown (due to losing stamina), making looms seems faster.

Ive seen lots of loom signs scathered around with just branches built, so I figure that its not worth cutting down trees and using boards and blocks of wood in the loom as well.
When I tried that, I didnt seemed to get more LP for the boards or the blocks of wood, what happens is that I keep getting the same steady learning points, but for longer due to having more materials.

I wonder if using higher quality branches give more LP while building the loom.

Also, I found a place with quality 22 clay in the north, I would like to know if I get more LP from finding them, or for building Kilns or pottery with them.

Does quality affects LP gain? How can I get LP faster than building loom?

Also, there is a decay for the looms built? It seems like people dont destroy them (because it takes a long time, costs stamina and doesnt give LP, so its worthless, except if its on your area that the sign will remain)

Any tips for a new players?

I know about moving the slider towards change and peacefull for more bonus in LP.

I heard that if I can hunt animals I can get more LP, is that true? I found a place with level VI boars, they did SHP on me and didnt killed me... So I wonder... What animals can kill me for good? Can a player kill me for good? What skill do they need, how much does it cost?

depends on what skills you got so far. If you just startin out, and have hardly bought any skills(farming, plant lore, lumberjacking) then goto a river and dig up clay, and then build a treeplanter's pot, while your in the river, the pot will drop into the water and you can go right back to diggin up more clay.(that's what i did till i went to the next step.

If you have some skills and stuff under your belt. Start lookin for a starter area(place where you want to call your own). your area should have a Stone(boulder) a Food source(apple tree) and a water source(well or river/lakeshore). What i did, was got lucky and found a piece of land that had a rock and a well, and was somewhat close to the river. from there i made my furnishings, plowed my fields, made my kilns and ovens and whatever i needed to make in order to make my setteling down a lil easier. stick to that plan, and your have LP rollin in, heck just to make an average plot of claimed land nice and livable, your rack up over 6K worth of points. after you have goten to the point where the current piece of land isn't helpin you rake in the points, Either Expand or go explorin again.

can animals kill you forever? possibly, I know lvl 3 animals are aggressive
can players kill you permantly? yes they can, and if they have the right skills(rage, murder, etc etc) they can come up and kill you dead :D

if there were other questions, srry i missed em.

In general, the better quality you work with, the more LP you get. This may be limited by your skills - if you have no cooking, and use high q foods, you'll probably get low Q results, and LP just as bad as if you used low Q materials. (Note - I haven't verified this.)

I have done well simply farming and baking, and putting LP into farming and cooking. The seed quality improves with each harvest, as does the food quality, and the LP gain. As a bonus, my stats go up nice and evenly. It probably helps that I have good ovens and good water.

I've also done very well camping on a good clay spot, making tea pots - but smelters proved even better, with the same good clay. Of course the advantage of teapots is that you drop them in the water. And as for the stamina loss - that's an opportunity to eat more, which gives you better stats. Drink water to restore the stamina, and eat even more. (Water makes you hungrier.) And yes, better clay --> more LP for those tea pots.

As far as I know, things completed decay, but things part-built do not.

As for animals killing you - avoid bears. Anything that hits you does "soft" and "hard" damage. Soft knocks you out; hard kills you. Getting knocked out does 1 "hard" damage. Most animals do mostly soft - but bears are notable for doing hard. Also, player killers tend to do "hard" damage ;-) They can also kill you while you are unconscious, if they have the "murder" skill.
