How can I prevent items from Decoying?

Postby Jack » Tue Oct 13, 2009 1:52 am

I have a claim, I would like to know what I can put on my territory without having to worry about it disappearing.

If I put something in the floor of a Log Cabin, like an apple core, does it decay?

Does a cut down tree stump decays if I let it on my claim? Do I have to pavement the ground?

Does Urns, Wicked Baskets and Straw Baskets decay?

apple cores and things considered as throw away items have a high decay rate(roughly less than 5 minutes)

I HEAR if you put stuff in a log cabin, that it does not decay

tree stumps and logs do not decay

if you plow a field it May revert back to unplowed land(what you start out with)

urns, wicker baskets and Straw baskets do decay(you'll see it change color more and more as it gets closer to being destroyed by decay)

hope that helps ya

if you can put it in your inventory, don't leave it on the ground, or it will disappear. put it in a container of some kind. containers and other liftable/buildable items decay if they are outside, so keep them in a cabin, mine, or cave if you don't want to repair them. plows seem to decay more from use than it does from being outside.

Interesting repplies.

Can I lock the cabin, Mine, Cave or somewhat prevent unautorized entrance?

What is the effect of stone floor in the decaying of the different types of objects?

Can the Log Cabin be destroyed or unbuilt?

Stone floors slow decay, or at least reduce the damage decay does.

The only locks available are claims, which can be trespassed and stolen from, but doing so leaves scents which can be tracked. If the crime is severe enough, the criminal can be summoned from his/her hearthfire even if offline, which will allow you to inflict your revenge on your helpless criminal.

Cabins cannot be destroyed, deconstructed, or damaged by decay. Yet.
You see a masterful engraving by Blaze. On it is Blaze, bears, boars, and foxes. Blaze is striking down the bears. The boars are screaming. The foxes are in a fetal position. The image relates to the return of Blaze in the late winter of 2009.
