Question about Hearth Secrets

Every time I type in something to create a hearth secret and click set nothing happens. What do I have to do?

What are you expecting to happen? You've set your hearth secret. Anyone who wishes to add you to their kinlist remotely must use your hearth secret.

No message or anything pops up saying your secret is set.

Once you type it in and click set, it's done.

Well I was expecting a message of some kind confirming that it has been set and is working. When I have my friend try to add me via my secret he is unable to and it says that no such secret exists.

are you outside of the starting cave?
and have you selected a name?
also, make sure he/she is not adding extra spaces, or characters.

Yes. I'm standing on my hearth fire. And he is sure that he's typing it in correctly.

maybe you should send it to him via skype, or the forums?
so he may copy and paste it to make sure.
also, is he trying to spawn at your hearthfire?

Are you typing it in the right box? Are you trying to set your hearth secret or add a hearth secret?
