So I downloaded Java 8 today because I needed the newest update for other games I play on. Now it logs me into the world but tells me, "An error occurred! The error has ben reported" then logs me out and closes down my browser. It has only been like this since I downloaded Java 8, so any tips on how to bypass Java 8 so I can still play this game? Please help if you can. Much appreciated!

prolly not a problem of Java 8
http://www.havenandhearth.com/forum/vie ... 62#p476549

it's not a problem to have different Java versions as you can manually set install pathes (i.e. Java\jre6 and Java\jre7 and Java\jre8 - even 32 Bit and 64 Bit ) and choose the version used by activating in Java Control Panel -> Java Tab -> View

but this is makes only sense for developers mainly and in case of res file timestamps it doesn't help - i checked with either Java 7 and 8 ...

i am not very computer savvy so a lot of what is said here goes way over my head but i am having trouble playing the game

I downloaded the most recent java and tested to make sure it works on my browser.
i went to my java settings and allowed havenandhearth, com access
i click the haven and hearth logo to download autohaven and click open with java web start
a logo appears followed by downloading application each for maybe 2 seconds
then all i am left with is a blank white box with haven and hearth in the title bar and the little application icon on my toolbar

i am running OSX the most recent version i think. i have a macbook pro

@ aDracula

you got proper drivers for your graphics card (OpenGL) ?!?

If you can't get the default client to run with visiblity you'd even won't get custom clients to run ...
also this would be the proper thread for OsX http://www.havenandhearth.com/forum/vie ... 27&t=32796

They almost managed to slip that one by me.

The future of Java on Windows XP
The important point here is that we can no longer provide complete guarantees for Java (that's Java 8) on Windows XP, since the OS is no longer being updated by Microsoft.
Its kinda funny how they make it sound like they would like to, but can't.

... Never knew that Java bugs where fixed by Microsoft. ... ¦]

no Microsoft even seems to have more and more troubles fixing their own OS bugs nowadays :P

What do you mean by "not supported" ?
Customers with a support contract may be required to reproduce an issue encountered on Windows XP on a later version of Windows, and if the issue is specific to Windows XP Oracle is not required to (and may be unable to) issue a patch or a workaround.

Q: Can I install JDK 8 on Windows XP? Will it work?
A: Yes, as long as you install JDK 8 Update 25 or later. Earlier updates of JDK 8 had an installer issue that prevented installation in Windows XP.

Q: What happens after the End of Public Updates for JDK 7?
A: We will continue monitor the uptake of Java 7 updates on Windows XP. If usage remains high when we get close to that milestone, we will take measures to keep Java users safe. There are several options available to us if that becomes necessary.

At last there's still an alternative by installing a Linux with small footprint on your oldie PC ...
