Snake mining

I'm decently new to mining, I've seen pictures where people have that snake tunnels 2 tiles wide with no supports, can someone just run me by how to do this?

Does it make cave ins though? I've never done much more than an L1 node, so it's new to me. So for example, Mine 3 tiles in, 2 to the left, 2 straight, 2 left. Then I can mine the extra tile out without cave in or is there a secret way to do it?

Ummm the extra tile I don't know about i can try it for you when server comes back up.

Thanks, cause I see screenies all the time of people having snake tunnels where carts can go through, with no cave in rocks and no mine supports.

Ya ill test it when server is done defraging and he brings it back up.
(unless someone else explains it before i can test it)
I always just setup minesupports and mine out area anyways(attempting to generate trolls )

Cave ins happen when more then 3 Mined tiles are Directly behind you

I drew you a picture,, the black is how to Snake mine

and the red is how to turn a snake mine, into a strait walkway, for less hassle

Cave ins happen when more then 3 Mined tiles are Directly behind you

They can still happen even if there are fewer than that, it's just rarer. The only 100% sure way to be safe from a cave-in is to be within the radius of a mine support.
