Sealing palisades

Postby dakepwns » Mon Jun 18, 2012 1:20 am

I'm about to start building my palisade, and I'm worried about the whole cornerpost issue. Do I have to build the entire palisade before I can seal it, or can I just make two extensions at right angles, seal it, then continue building?

Also, I'm planning to make an alt to act as the gatekeeper. Does the alt need to start the palisade, or finish it?

Hi

No, once you build a cornerpost you have the option of sealing it. The only exception to that is if your initial cornerpost hasn't dryed yet.

Once you seal a cornerpost, you can no longer build sections of wall off it.

It doesn't matter who finishes it, you can just pop the key in a chest, switch to your alt and grab the key, and keep it on that character.

It's best to build your cornerpost, look at what time it is, write that down. Then be sure to finish your entire palisade in one bang ( if you can ) when the initial cornerpost is set. Once you've completed it all, seal ALL your cornerposts.

Unless you want to expand your settlement, however someone might come along and wall you inside... your wall, if a cornerpost is left unsealed.

Good luck!

Q. Do I have to build the entire palisade before I can seal it, or can I just make two extensions at right angles, seal it, then continue building?
A. You can make two extentions (or however many you want), seal, and continue building. Do not seal before you make the extentions though, then you would have just wasted the materiels needed to make the palli

Q. Does the alt need to start the palisade, or finish it?
A. Easiest for the alt to finish the palli, well, the gate and get the key right away, but whoever has the key in the end can just transfer it to the alt

Hope that helped! :)

Thanks a lot. One more question. I'm paving the path around my settlement for the palisade. Do I need to make a 2x2 paved area for the cornerposts, or can I just put them on a single paved square?

No, you don't need to make a 2x2 paved area for the cornerpost, but you do need to put a stone in front and behind the spot where you are putting the gate (one for each square in front and behind both parts of the fence and it looks nice if you do the same to the two cornerposts on either side of the gate) :)

Hope that helped! :)

I think it's wrong, it get changed. :?: You just need to pave the tiles that the gate'd be on.

It's a nice way of seeing people who played in previous worlds.

To everyone: No, you do not need to pave any more tiles in front or behind where the gate is to be unless you plan on mkaing two gates.

Really? When did this change. It was a part of this world (world 6) right? Or did it change and I never paid attention?
