When to switch from sling to bow?

Postby BAB_PEEG » Wed Jul 04, 2012 1:07 am

As the title says, when should I switch or should I switch at all? I have 60 mm.

People say 100MM but I call BS on that. With a q60 bow you can start at 60MM. That is what I am doing. The tranisition might feel weird going from a really fast aim to something that feels like you have shitty MM. But you get used to making arrows, retreiving them, and all that stuff. So 60 is a good one to transition from sling to bow.

FYI, call down the thunder on whatever you are hunting, that way you don't waste an arrow luring it to you.

It's really just an opinion thing, what seems to be the majority of people will stick to slings. They both have their advantages (I gave a bit of a rundown in this thread). Again, it's your choice, there's no yes or no answer on if you should switch let alone when you switch.

if you are switching, factor in the quality of bow you have, your marksmanship and your ease in producing relatively high quality arrows (minimum quality should be higher than your bow, and your bow should be above 40 for starters in my opinion).

Stick to slings, bows are totally overrated and making arrows is a pain, at least for me.
