Decay time of a palisade

Hello,
I've just started and I have only 16 STR on my character. So I can't get down a palisade, even with a ram - right?

For the question, how long does it really take for a palisade to decay up till they disappear? Since I see some of them standing near my house, and they are already in the red.
How long does it usually take? They have been there for a few days in the red.

If you can be able to ram the palisade along with an alt, you should be able to break it though it will take a while.
