Boiled pepper drupe softcap formula?

Postby squrel » Fri Jul 27, 2012 11:58 am

The wiki claims that boiled pepper drupe quality is softcapped by cooking*perc. However, boiling the peppercorn on an account with 165 perc and 88 cooking yielded the same boiled drupe quality as an account with 10 perc and 1 cooking did. Is the formula incorrect?

Mmm, hard to tell, as there seems to be some data missing:
- Used cauldron: <string:["Clay"|"Metal"]>
- Used cauldron quality: <int>
- Used water quality: <int>
- Used 'peppercorn' quality: <int>
- Resulting 'Boiled Pepper Drupe' quality: <int>

Presuming your using a to low Q peppercorn here to actually trigger any softcapping on the final product.

... Ergo: RoB wiki assumed to be not incorrect ...

I'm using a q90-ish metal cauldron with q55 water and q97-100 peppercorn. I ended up getting around q58 drupes. Here's an image of my stats (the boiled drupe in my inventory was originally q97)

I also made hot tea on the same cauldron, with the same q water, with q110-115 black tealeaves, and I ended up getting q91 tea on that character.

Mmm. After some spreatsheet math. It seems I'm missing something. But not sure what though.

The following base-quality formulas seem to work for tea.
- BaseQ = (Qtea_leaves_avg*3 + (Qcauldron+Qwater)/2 ) /4
- Cauldron_type: Metal
Code: Select all
TEA CAU WAT BaseQ (target=91, no softcap)
100 100 55  94.375
100 95  55  93.750
100 90  55  93.125
95  100 55  90.625
95  95  55  90.000
95  90  55  89.375

So, with the same base-quality formula for Qpeppercorn.
- BaseQ = (Qpeppercorn*3 + (Qcauldron+Qwater)/2 ) /4
- Cauldron_type: Metal
Code: Select all
PEP CAU WAT BaseQ   Soft(24)(target=58)
100 100 55  94.375  59.1875
98  95  55  92.250  58.125
96  90  55  90.125  57.0625

Problem:
- Both characters need to have stats that both generate a softcap value of around 24. (very unlikely)

Make sure the cauldron is the quality you think it is? Boil a q10 clam and see what you get.

[edit] - Boiled 3 drupes on an exactly q90 cauldron and got the expected results using this formula

Code: Select all
(Qpeppercorn*3+(Qcauldron+Qwater)/2)/4

corn -> drupe
q85 - > q81
q92 - > q86
q89 - > q84

q90 cauldron, q49 water, 140 perc, 115 cooking.

I boiled a clam; q10 became q41:

What's strange is that someone else has boiled the drupes as well; he got q89-91 boiled drupes using the exact same facilities as I did, just with a different character, which led to me questioning the formula.

Works for OP data on character 1.
PER:165, Cooking:88, Farming:1 == 14520**(1/3) == 24.396

@OP: This also working for that second character of yours?

Don't see any point to wait with updating the Rob Wiki "Boiled_Pepper_Drupes" page. Ergo: Updated RoB: Boiled_Pepper_Drupes

Yeah, the revised formula seems to be working now. The other guy that tried it had 130 perc, 270 farming, and 100 cooking, so his drupes didn't get softcapped. Thanks for the help - looks like I need to get a bit of LP now.

Ps: Was actually wondering about the "account with 10 perc and 1 cooking" from your first post. Should have some really high farming level if I read things correct.
