local map

I have the parchment, the ink and the quill. I choose map area. The timer goes then the parchment looks like a map and is called local map. I right click and a blank map opens up. What am I missing?

aha, I see this exists in the bug section already. Perhaps I am doing everything right in the creation of map then.

Maps still work. They map each area you are in, not what you have explored. I tried this recently testing all the discovery items. It's cumbersome but it is a method to have a overview map.

The problem with making maps using the cartography skill, is that every time the server-wide bug happens where [yellow outlines disappear / parties are broken / your little x disappears off the minimap], all cartography-made maps are wiped blank and do not come back when the bug is fixed.

This bug turned up a day or two before the recent server reboot. I don't know if it has been fixed in the same way as previously (but parties and yellow outlines are at least back), but it's possible that maps aaren't working again yet?
