Village claim

Postby Feedzor » Wed Aug 22, 2012 1:57 pm

Hello,

I have a question about village claims. I will explain what happened and the problem will become obvious I hope.

Me and my friend made a village claim. He was lawspeaker, and I was also member - but didn't have the skill.
He died. I came online 2 days later and could press right mouse on the claim and it said "Become lawspeaker". I first had to get the skill though.
Anyway, now the v-claim was blue - which means I was the leader I assume.

Then today, my friend asked if I could leave the village so he could be lawspeaker again and he would add me later.
So I left it, but he couldn't become lawspeaker since he didn't have the skill.
I said, maybe if we both leave I will get the option to "Become lawspeaker" again just like before, but this time it keeps saying "That land is owned by .....".

Now neither of us are in there, and we can't become lawspeaker.
Now I can just put on my trespassing and do my thing, but I'd like to know how you would solve this problem!

I hope you can help out!
Regards

Is there a personal claim over the village idol? if so, get the owner to allow your character to vandalize, steal etc.

Otherwise, do you have vandalism? maybe you can't claim the LS because of the personal claim.

I really don't know though, just throwing ideas out there for you.

Hello, thanks!

No there is no personal claim anymore. We decided to remove that since we have the village.
I don't think that there is anyone in the village anymore right now - then what happens? Will there just be a claim there forever?

Leaving the village was a dumb thing to do, as if you hadn't, you could get lawspeaking and take lawspeaker. Now, since you are not in the village, you can't.

However, if a village has below 25k authority iirc, anyone with the lawspeaking skill may take lawspeaker.

also village claims decay when the authority pool is completely drained.

Be careful when you're doing things in the village, because if you leave a summonable scent, and your place isn't properly walled you might log in to find yourself dead.

Hello,

Yes it was really stupid. We have no experience with these things so that caused it. How does a village get below 25k authority? How do they decay? Or how fast w/e.
And indeed I have already left a few theft scents. I am putting my hearthfire in a safely walled place right now :D.

Thanks for your replies!

villages lose authority over time, based on how many statues/banners they have.
authority is gained by village members finishing to study curiosities.

An idol with no statues or banners should take about a week to go to 0 authority. You'll know when you can dig on village claim with criminal actions off, or if the idol goes red.

Also, if you want to play without leaving scents, make a personal claim over the area (you might have to start it off the vclaim)

It is best to have a Pclaim over things anyway as there is no decay for most objects on a personal claim, but there is on a village claim.

I'll throw some info at ya.(Been Running Villages since W3)

Village claim with no banners/ statues has max 250,000 AP it drains AP at a rate of 5000/ingame day or 15000 per RL day. A village can be "stolen" by anyone with lawspeaking after it drops below 50,000AP, no criminal acts required. So IF the village was at max AP it takes 14 RL days to drop below 50,000. Like Marsdarth said best way to check to see if village is below is 50,000AP is to try to dig without crime acts tuned on.

Next if you are not part of the village you can not force a personal claim within 5 tiles of a "hostile" village.(and by hostile i mean a village you're not a member of) so best you can do is claim up the land outside and around your village.

FYI. Been there done that with my second village in W3....and yes it is a painful mistake to make. Learn from it and come out better :)

Cheers

Thanks!
We don't have any banners or statues and just made it a week or two ago. And I've been on vacation since so not a lot has happened.
Can I ask, what are "AP" and how can they be achieved? Just so I can make a rough estimate of how many this village could have.

Also, there might actually be someone still in the village but I am not sure if he has lawspeaking. If he has lawspeaking he's automatically turned into the lawspeaker, right?
And what if he doesn't have that skill? Will the thing that you say apply? Or because there still is a regular member it won't go down in AP.
Also, if he's just a member - and gets lawspeaking, can he then become lawspeaker no matter what AP the village has? Since he's member anyway?
What if the sentence above happens and is possible, can he then add me, quit lawspeaking, and I can do the lawspeaking again?

Thanks in advance!

AP stands for Authority.

RoB wiki wrote:Gain

[03 April 2010, Jorb:] "Authority is now gained by village members gaining LP. The authority gained is base LP gained by the character (i.e. unaffected by learning rate), factored by the geometric average of the character's charisma and intelligence, divided by thirty."

It seems that current formula is Authority = RoundedDown (LP * sqrt (INT * CHA) / 10), where "LP" is "base LP gain" (100% learning ability, not 360%). (13:58, 15 February 2011 (CST))

How much authority a village can store (the maximum authority limit) may be increased by building the following structures. Note that these structures also increase the daily authority drain as a side effect.

* Banner - Adds 13k maximum authority and drains 250 authority per in-game day.
* Statue - Adds 20k maximum authority and drains 350 authority per in-game day.
