Barter stands/trade tables?

Hi all

I know there is an option to make barter stands but was wondering how viable are they?

e.g. if I leave one in an open field can someone just come by and destroy it and take whatever loot flies out? Or if someone has theft can they just steal from it?

Does anyone in game actually use them in general or do they just make trading alts and portal in/portal out?

If someone has criminal acts on and interact with the stand they will steal the item instead of trade it. Virtually nobody uses them except for low teir goods or for use within a village
I'm not even sure if any villages use them to trade internally, but it would be about the only viable use for them.

Barter stands have another important use.

When you want to use the stand for discovering items notice that even anyone can buy items from it, but the only toon that can place items into it is the "owner".

there was better info on that to give him than Magic's post there...when discovering an item using a stand all you have to do is shift click it from inventory so it goes to the stand, then shift click it from stand so it goes back to inventory, and no actual trade/sell is required for the discovery making things alot simpler!

That is if the owner of the stand is the one needing the discovery. If not then you do need to purchase the item that's for sale.
