http://havenandhearth.wikia.com/wiki/Ha ... earth_Wiki

Once caught, a male and a female silkmoth can mate within 24 in-game-hours, turning into 10 silkworm eggs at most. To do so, they need to be in the same container. Once a silkmoth is caught it's lifetime timer will start ticking and you should make sure not to keep them in your inventory for too long.

Everything else you need to know about silk production is in there.

thats the outdated wiki, the more updated version is http://ringofbrodgar.com/wiki/Haven_and_Hearth_Wiki the silkmoth page there is the same, but RoB has better info usually

@Goober: people don't lurk on the forums just to answer you, give longer than 30 minutes for a response before going bezerk, average questions are answered within an hour, but as you annoy everyone maybe you should give it 2-3 hours(I for one will never look at a thread/post of yours unless someone else has responded)

There's also a Simple Questions thread that you can use for simple questions like this.

Alos, as ImAwesome said, the Ring of Brodgar wiki is the one that is more up to date with the game.

Seriously!
With all the links you've been given you cant find this out for yourself?

One of the four stages of the Silkmoth life cycle. See Sericulture for more information. Dropping a Silkworm Cocoon causes it to disappear.
How to Acquire

Place a Silkworm into a container with Mulberry Leaves. It will eat one leaf every four hours. If it misses more than one meal, it will die of starvation, so make sure there are enough leaves. After eating four Mulberry Leaves, it will transform into a Silkworm Cocoon.
Uses

Produces Silk Filaments when unraveled at a Cauldron. The number of Silk Filaments produced is affected by the Nature/Industry slider.
Becomes a Silkmoth after 16 hours (real-time).
