Question about Trees "sprouts"

I have noticed that some of my trees are sprouting an extra "branch" during their growth and even when chopped down to put the next generation down the stump will have a branch now sticking out of it. Can anyone shed some light on this for me? Is it because they reached a certain Quality level? Do I need to do something different with these trees? In real life even though you cut down the tree if it has sprouts it can still regrow so curious as to if this is the case in game.

Yes using Enders Client. and I haven't figured it out yet. Maybe tomorrow I will have more time to figure it out and get it to ya. But without a doubt our birch trees are sprouting an extra branch close to the top...even the baby ones (and it isn't all of them) and 2 of the trees we chopped down but left the stump have a branch sticking out of it.

Hope you can see the branches on the small trees and the branch coming off the birch tree trunk....

Do those "branches" disappear when you remove the stump?

lmao looks like someone planted over a tree that was stunted at stage 1...since they don't have a hitbox they wouldn't affect anything else, but would look weird in that spot.
