I have a question about minehole openings.

When a new minehole is made on the upper level. What conditions does it need to meat to be able to open into the lower level?

1. Can someone block the opening by simply digging into the void tiles where the 7x7 opening is made?
2. What if you happen to place your minehole right on top of a cave lake?
3. Is the lower level of the minehole created the second the upper level is made? Or is it made after someone steps through it the first time?

Asking this out of curiosity after seeing a few posts in COA about minehole mechanics.

This happened to me. It opened right into the cave and now I can see the cave floor, and there is spawn, and the leader to go up.
Is just the cave as it was before and now has a hole on its top.

Its common to open a minehole on top of a cave system. But was there anything in the exact spot where the opening was made?

Was your minehole blocked by items in the 7x7, or had the items in that 7x7 removed as it spawned?

2. Not sure about that one honestly. I think it will let you make the minehole, but then say there is no room at exit. Not sure.

This might be interesting to some. Some basic testing on mineholes showed these results.

1. Minehole built on the upper level wont open into the lower level until a player walks through it.
2. Mineholes cant have any item blocking it in the 7x7 that they open into.

The 2nd one I'm not 100% about but simple tests showed that if there is collidable objects in the 7x7 it will prevent the player to walk through the new hole. The person trying to walk through it gets the same message as if a regular minehole ladder was blocked and the lower level minehole never gets created because of this.

Hope this is informative to someone.

Things I didn't get to test.
Check if mineholes can open into areas where there is passable water under it.
Check if digging into the void where the minehole will open into does block it or not.
Check thoroughly if the 7x7 really needs to be cleared or its a smaller area.

If you build a minehole over mined tiles, it will say no room at exit or somethng like that.
