Silkmoths

Wiki says that as soon as you catch a silk moth, it's lifespan starts ticking, so don't keep it in your inventory for too long...

I have a male silk moth, but haven't caught a female for it yet, how long before it dies?

Also, do silkmoths go full life cycle if you don't unravel the cocoons to cook in a couldron, to procreate again, or do they die at that stage?

I don't have a couldron yet, can I keep cocoons indefinitely, or must I unravel them, or what?

1. Read wiki again: http://havenandhearth.wikia.com/wiki/Silkmoth
2. If you dont have a cauldron just keep them as eggs, they last indefinitely.
3. ???
4. Profit

Read Wiki again and it says to ask a dev how long they live - I can tell you that the male silkmoth in my inventory died after about 4 hours without having a female with it.

3. ??? refers to? Sorry, I should have numbered my questions.

SIlkmoth stage: They stay 12 ingame hours (4 hours irl)
If they got a partner in the same container they will lay eggs and die, if not they wll just die.
Now these eggs dont ever die. Dont drop them onto ground though, you cant pick them up.
If you put these eggs on a herbalist table they will hatch into silkworms after some hours.
Silkworms will check once every 12 ingame hours for a leaf. If there is none they die, if there is one they get fed and get a +1 counter. If the counter reaches 4 (48ingame hours aka 16irl hours, with 4 leaves per worm) they will instantly hatch into Cocoons. Cocoons will hatch, if not unravavlled, into Silkmoths after 12ingame hours again, with 50:50 chance for male/female.
The world I love The tears I drop To be part of The wave can't stop
Ever wonder if it's all for you
The world I love The trains I hop To be part of The wave can't stop
Come and tell me when it's time to
