Currently active aggressive villages and players

Postby Cookie » Sun Dec 16, 2012 4:57 pm

Who are the currently active aggressive villages and players who would be likely to attack a small developing settlement or kill foraging nooblings? Are there any major faction disputes going on that it would be useful for me to know?

I'm not asking for who is friendly and who would trade, just who I should avoid. I'm trying to find out which quadrant would be a quicker form of suicide to settle in. ... not that anything is quick in this game at the moment what with the crippling lag....

I got my answer to this from the post "Factions". After three pages of people calling each other faggots and owls a couple of people kindly answered the question. The short answer is two towns, Dis and AD, with Dis being the more likely to raid small starting settlements, but there was lots more detail.

But now I have another question....

What's an owl? And why would you call someone an owl as an insult?

Really no place is safe as many people have cross roads that lead to everywhere on the map

I'm okay with a raiding party or two, or a random thief and all the drama that results, but the last time I logged in a few months ago the area was alive with guys in silk merchants robes who were using the mod which enabled them to aggro on anyone within a wide radius and using aggro to home in on people they hadn't even seen yet. It made playing just a trifle more lively than I had in mind.

The urban dictionary defines owl as

1. Penis (Also see: White Owl)
2. Hand rolled cigarette
3. Hand rolled cigarette containing cannabis
4. Crack cocaine
5. Woman with too much eye-makeup (Also see: Raccoon)
6. "Older Wise Learner" e.g. Mature student
7. Ordinary Wizard Level e.g. GED for students attending Hogwarts
8. Order of the White Lotus (From the show The Last Airbender)
9. Our Whole Lives (The youth sex and gender education program for the UU Church)
10. Ongoing Weight Loss (Dear God, I hope not!)

and a few other things I suspect to be even less relevant than above.

The verb "owling" had two meanings I'd already heard of

1. Hunting owls
2. Smuggling wool out of England to the Flemish weavers in the 1600's

But apparently it can also mean:

3. Smoking
4. Smoking cannabis
5. Doing crack cocaine
6. Crouching and staring like an owl
7. Having oral sex with a penis or penises
8. {CENSORED} (seriously, this is a kink I do not feel entirely comfortable describing)

or simply be a dialect version of

9. Howling

My bet here is on number six of the second set as I encountered a whole lot of "Forget Planking, Owling is the latest meme" type of entries where it had this meaning.

I think I've got it now, thank you.

If you think this is bad, you should have seen me struggling to get an accurate definition of the term "teabagging"..... Man, that was laborious. I was too clueless and everyone was too tactful to explain.

This thread is fine but if it devolves into what happened in the Factions thread I will be issuing bans to all offenders this time.

best option, is packing your shit up, into containers/cupboards logging off and never playing this godawful game again. Simple and effective method of avoiding hostile players :)
I had a retardedly huge signature and have gotten this embarrassing replacement to show for it.
