I still can't light the kiln

I read the wiki and I put sticks and blocks, and tried boards in the kiln with some ball clay, but nothing happens when I hit the light button. It doesn't say "need more fuel" or anything either so I don't have a clue

you got Pottery skill i assume...
you seeing fuel (orange) in the meter? Have you tried different times ( lag ...) to push lit button?

take out ball clay - put in boards - fuel with a board - try to lit
when it works use one coal to burn ball clay to bricks

if you want to burn other stuff made from clay you'll need more fuel i.e. pots

I figured it out:
What no one has written anywhere I can find, is that you need to left click the wood, then right click the kiln while holding the wood to fuel up the kiln, thus making the bar turn orange. I was trying to put the wood IN the kiln, where the clay goes.

This stuff is not obvious!!!!

you'll see there are different things where you do like that - filling fodder throughs for example
