asshole to chum ratio?

Hello everyone a friend suggested I try out Haven and Hearth, but before I get more into it I gotta know what are my chances of encountering some dick who will just kill me or steal my crap for no reason? I read the thread on village safety now I feel paranoid.

When you just started playing HnH there's no worry as
your precious character
is no big loss - just play and try to enjoy - too much paranoia kills the fun... :D

I got killed by a wild boar in the first five seconds of logging back in at least I thought I did I was on the forums and my character stood back up again?

You were just knocked out, luckily. There are 3 numbers on your health bar. The first is your current HP, when it gets to 0 you're knocked out, the second is hard points, when it gets to 0 you're dead. The last is max hp.
