Launcher Strangeness

Postby Selenaut » Sun Mar 10, 2013 8:34 pm

Either there isn't a thread that explains this simply or I'm blind, but...

For some reason when I try to run the vanilla client it can never completely download (and eventually gives the "I can't download your stuff" Java error), and when I run (using run.bat) the 32-bit Ender client (Windows 7, perfectly functioning JRE/JDK 7, on Bootcamp from Mac), it returns an error stating "cannot find javaw." It used to work on both the regular Mac partition and the Windows partition, but now it works on neither.

Anybody have any idea as to why, or how to fix this problem?

Thanks.

Ender: Is it pointing to the right path? Have you tried to edit your run.bat pointing to java.exe ?

Hints: 32bit Java (program files (x86) and 32 Bit Ender or 64 Bit Java (program files) and 64 Bit Ender -i.e. for 32 Bit Java/Ender C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre7\bin

Test your java url here : viewtopic.php?f=2&t=28086#p360781

Did you also downloaded the update.zip and unpacked into Ender folder?

Is any Firewall / Antivirus /Browser setting blocking ?

If it still doesn't work post your run.bat pls and if you get error messages

With default client : you can save the autohaven.jnlp (instead opening with Java web start Launcher) - it's a XML file you can open with a text editor and get the download urls of the needed files and download each manually. Or look into your Java Control Panel at the cached files to see what file can't be downloaded, there is a folder called .haven in Documents and Settings/username which is the cache for running haven ... but i guess you'd better go with Ender.

Thanks for the response.

It turns out that my Mac vanilla client suddenly decided to work, so I'm using that now.
But I'm not sure about the Windows ender client; was the update file required in order to successfully use it?

I'd already checked Java versions and everything, so that wasn't my problem.

Either way, at this point it doesn't matter, I can deal with the vanilla client. But if you do know, by chance, where one could find a 64-bit ender client for mac, that'd be great.

Thanks.

Ender update.zip here:
http://odditown.taggedup.com/ender/update.zip
just unpack into Ender folder (works for both 32/64 Bit)

afaik there is no official Ender 64Bit for Mac - you prolly have to fiddle with the "normal windows" Ender 64 Bit to get it run on your Mac OSX - would need jogl and gluegen stuff for Mac:

I don't have a modern Mac so i can't check it for you
