Character Death Question

My main character died while hunting. I reincarnated using the runestone in character creation and inherited everything else. When I try and travel to where the corpse is I am sent back to my Hearth Fire as soon as I get close to the body. How am I supposed to loot the items when I can't even get close?

Are you using a custom client with an auto-hearth feature? If you use Ender's, there might be someone unidentified standing near the body, and you might have the option selected to automatically hearth in this case.
