1. You can have as many accounts and characters as you want. However, most efficient use of your playing time is to play just one and raise his skills. It's better to be great at one thing than mediocre at many.
2. You're put in stasis when you're logged out. So no, nothing bad can happen, unless you log out in combat (you stay logged in until you're knocked out/murdered in that case).
3. All kinds. I think it's second to last stage of growth.

if you do crimes you can also be summoned and killed while offline. so don't do crimes.

You need to go around cliffs. There's always a way around. At least I haven't seen any are completely closed off by cliffs.

And yeah, boats are perfectly safe. You need Wheelmaking and a crapload of wood to build one.

presently you should only make one character per account, this may change in the future. benefits of doing so:

~ you are unable to kin characters on the same account
~ you can use your alt as a packmule with the Follow command
~ you can raise initiative using your packmule
~ some people can detect account name for shared characters
etc.

perfectly safe? i wish okay, there are some exceptions, dont log out or crash while carrying a boat, dont log out or crash while in a boat in the river



usually results in it getting lost, you getting stuck, etc

this. Alts have several uses. Mostly notably claims & storage. Later on, village construction and management. Other than claims one doesn't need to level any of these alts in any way other than charisma for appointing a chieftain (which can be given an HQ talisman instead).

lots of people have nature/industry alts, or at least they used to. not really sure if this is as common now.
