Wondering how theft scents track items exactly. I know you can store X items in a container, in a boat, in a cellar, but what about storing things in carts?

I don't think they track items...they either track the player or the player's hf

Theft scents DO have the option to track the stolen items.

They can also track items. Specifically any non-consumed item.. If you steal food and eat it, it won't be able to track that.

Steal an item of some sort? It'll track that as long as it exists.

If the logged out character has a hearthfire, it will be tracked to the hearthfire. On the otherhand, if they character does not have a hearthfire, it cannot be tracked.
