Switch the direction of objects

Is there a way to switch the direction an object faces? Like for example, instead of having the house door that points east, have it face south?

I wish, but alas, in the words of the Rolling Stones, 'You can't always get what you want." You can however, hold shift to place things off the grid. It's unrelated, but useful in the way of building.
