How do I protect my patio from bear attacks?

Postby Eosarose » Tue Apr 30, 2013 7:41 pm

I've got some riverside property in Brodgar. If you are not aware, Brodgar has no perimeter walls, so we often have the problem of people dragging animals through the streets to destroy property and kill people. There will be a wall around the main part of my plot, but I would like to have a 'patio' on the river-facing side that is enterable by strangers but not animals. I don't plan on putting valuable things on the patio - just basic tables chairs boats and cheap decorations. My idea is to surround the patio with some sort of barrier which strangers can get through/around but which is indestructible to bears. If players destroy the barrier themselves that's OK at least there will be scents from that.

The only things I can think of are... boulders? trees? Not sure... I need help brainstorming.
Fences definitely wont work - destructible by even just boars.
Palisade wont work because it keeps out players.

Only think I can think of is trees. Bears can bash through boulders. However if you try to plant trees too close together, they wont grow and the bear will just walk right over them. Seems you are in a conundrum.

Bears, deer, trolls, and boars can destroy virtually every object short of palisades, brick walls, and trees. If someone wants to run a bear through that they will. Boulders will not protect you I'm afraid.

OP is relevant. He isn't being harrassed or looking for a solution for any kind of vandalism, he's trying to build something where he currently lives and he wants to prevent vandalism by animals.

Mineholes
with a runestone saying which one the players can go down, then up again
Or even palisade, with one minehole that the players can go down and up
