STUTTERING AND LAG SPIKES

Is there anyway of minimising the lag spikes and stuttering in game.
I haven't been on in a while so the server may have had an update but
I experience frequent lag spikes and stuttering,this is especially annoying
When I am exploring.
Can I please have an update or some info on the topic also.
I live in Australia fyi

It's the server acting up again, make sure to check your Lag-o-meter on the front page. Generally, if it's over 150, you're going to get annoying lag spikes.
