Where should i claim land?

Postby Ekira » Mon Oct 26, 2009 3:12 am

I just started and I am ready to start claiming land but should i wait till i get out of the beginner area?Or should i try claiming the land now?
And how long would it take me to built a boat to get to a new area?

Thanks,Ekira

You should probably leave the beginner area and wander until you find some resources. You can do this on foot. You really want to settle somewhere that has mulberry and apple trees for food and where you don't have too many neighbors competing for the forest resources.

It doesn't take long to build a boat. It just takes enough trees. Being near water is a good idea so you can have it to drink, to restore stamina and so that you have access to clay and all the other things you use water for from tanning through transportation. But don't go swimming!

You may come to me, I live at the northernmost point, where all the river going north merge together. I have a little bit of everything, and I just finished a log cabin for guests. You are welcome to stay, explore and try out things until you have found your place. You are also welcome to stay in the area. Im very lonely here :p

To Leonard and Ekira - if you are interested:

Bear in mind that it is very far away and in lvl10 creatures territory. The town needs to be built from scratch still, but we can get your LP's up at my current settlement first. It will be challenging, but good fun if you're up for it.

I plan on coming past RoB tomorrow to fetch anyone that may wish to start this up with me.

Definitely leave the RoB area if you feel comfortable in your own abilities. If you don't have access to a Dowsing Rod to find water sources to build a well, live by or close to a river or lake. Building a boat doesn't take too long at all, considering there's an abundance of trees nearby. If you're looking for a good beginner area and you don't have any travel weariness I would suggest using a Crossroads Post (located inside Brogdar) and traveling to Swampcrazed. If you go south and east there are plenty of wide-open areas. If you're feeling a bit more adventurous keep going south and east as far as you can, past all the little towns and other settlements until there is nothing but wilderness, just beware the animals, especially foxes.

Hey Sarge, where is our mine located? If its up in the north, that would be great, cause Ive established some kind of outpost/trading post/farm here. I may help you out with everything, and Im happy to be your trading partner :D

I am also a beginner and i wandered the same thing about claiming the land. Is it possible that i will find there a mine, because as i can see there is no mine wherever im going. What skills level i need to kill those foxes? I also dont know why my totem and claimed land disappeared:/

The reason your totem disappeared could have been a server rollback or someone destroyed it. As for finding a mine. That is VERY VERY VERY RARE and they are mostly found in barren areas (looks like giant fields of dirt), inside caves, or in mountainous regions. To find mining spots you need to have the Prospecting skill as well as Rustroot Extract. The higher level animals, like III and up, I would recommend having at least 20 in your desired fighting skill, such as melee, unarmed, or marksmanship.
