Between a ledge and a hard place - problem with a palisade

So I have no doubt that this question has been posed before, but I can't seem to find it, so I'll ask here. I'm trying to build a palisade but I'm stuck between a ledge and the ocean. I can't pave on the square adjacent to the two paved squares on the corner, and that would be the only place for a cornerpost. Any ideas how I might be able to fix this problem without making a multi-gated palisade useless?
