Paving under a village idol?

I have a brick paving design for the center of my village but it requires that the tiles under the village idol be paved with blue bricks, which I do not have much access to at the moment. Could I make the village idol and then redo the paving under it later with blue bricks?

To do so you would have to remove the original idol and make a new one. You would lose all accumulated authority and every banner or statue you placed would no longer be usable.
