Man vs. Fox (hunting foxes)

Hi guys,
I made a somewhat decent sling (q10) and tried to kill foxes from my boat.
I have 20 Marksmanship and I can easily hit the fox, but when I hit her, she just run away.
I even tried to follow her and hit her more times.
After four hits she was still alive and continued fleeing.

Have I to kill her in a single hit?
Does the fence tactict prevent her to "heal" in order to le me kill her in few hits?

you'll have to kill it in one hit or chase it unless you fence it in. the foxes won't destroy the fences as long as you are in a boat.

Fence it in, shoot it. Your damage is too low, it doesn't heal. The reason it runs is because your damage is high enough so it "overwhelms" it I think. (They run in 2 cases: LOw health, or too much damage in 1 shot)

Probably with my stats and my sling I need more than 4 hits.

Yes. You can continue doing this, or simply fence it in.
Your choice but if you keep chasing it and shooting it, it will surely die.

foxes can't destroy fences at all. if you trap them with signs they can destroy those if they are able to pathfind to you. if they can't pathfind to you(ie you're in a boat) they'll stand there and take the hits after you get them enough damage to run.

as far as slinging foxes with low quality sling I suggest building a roundpole fence around the fox. it allows you to stand pretty close and shoot it(closer you are the faster your meter rises) but don't stand right against the fence because they can bite trhough it.

Or just twitch hunt... they don't run if you shoot them right as they 'twitch' to 'move' to you while you're in the boat. If you watch them closely you'll see that they move a bit every few seconds. Shoot them right after that little movement and they won't run even when you get their health low.

Why hasn't anyone recommended this? Has anything changed? I've killed a fox, at least two boars, and a bear this way today...

No this still works and is a very helpful tactic when hunting animals from the water.

twitch hunting has never worked for me
