Quality of the foragable (in this case, string) is equal to quality of the soil. EIther find Q50 soil then every once in a while go there to check if there's strings, or kill a boar/deer/bear, dry his hide and turn it into hide straps.

the q of forragables is equal to the q of the soil below it, hardcapped by your survival.

If you want higher q taproot, find higher q soil, and forrage there

Several options:

1. Kill a bear and skin it, dry his hide and then make leather straps out of it -> will be pretty good quality.
2. Start farming and you will get soon good strings from hemp and flax
3. Trade for better sling.
4- Learn how to fight in melee and don't use sling :)
