Light a torch?

I can't find any info in the wiki or by searching "torch" in the forum. I have right clicked the torch on a fire, right clicked the torch, and just carried them around. They don't seem to light no matter what I do, Any help? Thanks.

you have to equip it in a hand slot...

or using Ender's client press control N(nightvision)
