How do I build on forest land

I am trying to build a log cabin on a forest land. I have plowed an area but im not sure what the next step is to teraform it. Isnt there a way to form it into grassland?

chip a stone from a nearby boulder, buy the skill 'stoneworking' and pave the ground, you can then build on it.

There are some good guides in HDI that you should take the time to read that will help you a lot as you start out.

Additionally to what people have posted already, this is a game where what you learn by doing is how to create a new character after death, rest you learn from reading guides. I sugest you go through all of them before you get yourself killed.
