I'm stuck, what should I do?

Postby NatilleHM » Thu Aug 01, 2013 2:25 am

This evening I was building the last bit of my palisade and wasn't sure how to make a gate; I thought that the gate would appear when the palisade was completed. I checked the wiki and found out that two corner posts are needed to make a gate, and that I've trapped myself inside.

Can someone help me? Is there a way to destroy the wall? Is there a different way to escape?
Any help would be much appreciated :)

Palisade can be destroyed with a Ram (by hand needs a lot of str)

So you'd need to have the materials inside and ability to get needed STR, or somebody (or an Alt of yours) from outside helping either by building a Ram outside or porting you out (needs invitation to a village and 25 Str to destroy your HF)

Do you know your Coords? (don't post here!)

If you've been paying attention to the geography of your area, you have to look through the world map and find it.

I'm sorry about your troubles, I generally hate walls in this game because they are almost as intrusive to the people they are supposed to protect than they are to aggressors.

something similar happened to me.

The difference is that I did the gate and everything fine, I just forgot to seal one of the cornerposts, and then some ""Badass person"" just spent a good ammount of his time just sealing the entrance, and putting me in your situation xD

Well... I just broke my hearthfire and spawned again in a random spot (sad that I lost my house xD, but now I got a better place, and I am far far away from some "not ok" ppl)

If you want, you can send me your coords on a private message, If you are on a realistic distance from where I am, I can try to help... but still...the best you can do is breaking your hearthfire (need 25 strength, if you don't have that but you are close, you can set your beliefs to full Barbarism [30% boost])

good luck :c

You can also declaim your claim and then place it so that the part of the wall you want gone is outside of the claim. It will then decay after an amount of time, I don't know how long of a time, however it will be more than a couple of days.

To clarify, you can destroy a placed hearthfire with 25 strength if you have a stone axe equipped. Less strength if you have a pickaxe, and 33 strength if you are bare handed. If you decide to do that, be sure to put any objects you don't want to leave behind in your inventory. I'd recommend seedbags with all the types of crops you have as a start.

That'll take a month most likely and then the whole palisade will need to be repaired. There's also the chance that the joker will come along and drop a claim over the palisade themselves, and then you'll really be stuck as you won't be able to destroy your HF.

It's 36 Str to break a hearth fire without any tools. The building damage dealt is the square root of the characters modified strength, rounded down. Add damage for tools: +1 stone axe, +2 pick axe, +4 sledgehammer.
Opinions expressed in this statement are the authors alone and in no way reflect on the game development values of the actual developers.

Thanks for the clarification on the strength requirement.

I didn't realize it would take so long for a palisade to decay. What I meant, though perhaps I should have been clear, you should declaim and then reclaim all the area except the one side of the palisade that you want gone. That way it blocks anyone else from claiming with a personal claim. However, that is a LONG time. You can always farm and increase crop quality, but you'll likely not get enough curios to keep Farming above your crop quality in that amount of time.

I suppose if it happened to me and I couldn't destroy the palisade, I would break my hearthfire and start out anew. Your character is the most important resource you have, it would be incredibly stunted by a month without forageable curios. Good luck with whatever you choose.
