Life after the basics?

Postby witeout187 » Thu Aug 01, 2013 2:48 pm

I now have a pretty good idea of the basics. I have a house, a boat, Yeomanry, and all the basics mentioned in "Sevenless Guide". I am a hermit, do I pick a profession from here on out and if so what areas are there to focus in? or do I try and do okay at everything? Eventually I want to trade and even enter a city. What is a valuable profession to enter?

I'd say do a bit of everything to figure out what you like. You'll need to make a mining alt or not do farming with your main. Careful with mining though, if you don't know the basics it can kill easy.

Any beginner can get pearls/bears/flotsam to trade for what you need like tool quality. You just need a village idol in your hermitage (and that's not hard if you work at hunting with mm).

From there start looking at dwarves/thieves section and figure out if there's a town you want to join. Careful, town drama can ruin the game for you. Try to choose well and have fun :)

What Sevenless said. Also remember not to put everything on the same character. Have one forager, one miner and one farmer, for example. Otherwise you risk everything just by dying once (And you most likely will - atleast count on it)

I usually use my main as a forager/farmer. Then I level a foraging account to 80per/80exp/40surv. Then my main becomes a base body and the forager takes over and I top up the surv/mm as required by nodes.

mining alt just needs like 40 smithing and nothing but str after that.

80 perc and 80 explo is very high. As far as I know there are noitems that need that to be discovered. Is this to get increased amounts of finds?

Indeed.
40*40 if you only want to discover them.

How many are "all the edels"? You see them every 5 minutes or what?

I would just do an industry alt and a nature one, with a possible forager. Having a ton of alts is cobfusing and for someond new its hard to keep all fed, and their stats to what u may need.

See what u enjoy, but as a hermit ure expected to do all jobs which can be difficult.

Good luck
