What the what is this walking tree person?

Has anyone else seen that thing on the far right?
I was out hunting and saw it walking around near a village (not mine). At first, it looked like another player in weird armor, but it moved completely unlike a player's walk animation. That, and it's a bit larger than a player. A front and back view of it made it look like some tree-person.
I didn't want to fight it because I had no idea what it was capable of, and didn't want to get in over my head. There's nothing on the wiki(s) about it.
This was the only screenshot I got. It's zoomed out because I didn't want to get to close, not know if it'd aggro or not.
Can someone confirm this? Has anyone fought one, and if so, do they know what it's like?

(at least not for now, since that seems to be a "unfinished" creature... idk about anyone who actually killed one, seems to be impossible to kill it too)

You cannot attack or kill a dryad. They will heal nearby animals though so they can problematic.
