Not sure if I'm dead or what

Postby TheInsouciant » Tue Nov 03, 2009 10:47 pm

So this morning I left my character unattended for a while while I was building a loom on my claim, and when I came back the client was no longer running. Don't know if it crashed or what. I didn't think much of it, but when I logged in again just now, the character I had been playing was missing from the login screen. I don't quite get what happened. My HHP were quite low, so I guess it's possible something came along and killed me. If my character died, would it no longer show up on the login screen? I've read about making a descendant of a dead character, how is that done?

If you were building a loom and was low on HHP, I'd guess you starved to death. Loom-building takes a long time, and therefore a lot of stamina, and therefore a lot of hunger.

And yes, if your character is dead, it stops showing up on the login screen. Instead, when you create a new character, there will be a runestone just west of the "pond" in the character creation room, which you can use to inherit your previous character.

So... I trekked back out to my old claim, and my dead ancestor is still standing there. Shouldn't he be lying down dead? He's standing straight up right where I left him, by the loom, in a puddle of blood. It's kinda spooky.

I'm putting up a runestone: "The Haunted Loom".

loftar: what are your thoughts on spawning a character who has inherited from a tombstone at their ancestor's claim or village, if either exist?

That's a known bug. When characters starve to death, they keep standing. I'll get around to it sooner or later.

They can't leave purgatory until they get what they want. Dead hearthlings in need of food? Zombies. Win.

Best idea yet for making burial useful.
