Unmineable Tiles in Cave

I've come across an area in the mine that I can't mine, not because it's too hard or there's an entrance near by, it just won't let me. I can mine around it and it's looking to be quite a big area - does that mean anything or is it a glitch?
At first I thought maybe something was below it but i'm not mining down - as in a mineshaft - so it wouldn't make any difference, would it?

Also, not a question, just a thought, we should be able to make some kind of jewellery or talisman with all those stupid shells and cat gold - I can't throw anything away and now i've got cupboards full of them.

By any chance are those unminable areas near the corrupted sectors that cannot be entered?

No, above ground are no problems and in the mine all is fine except for this area, I am in the process of mining around it to see how big it is and what shape it takes - just out of curiosity really. So not a normal occurance then?

Unless it's not a border (World or corrupted areas) it's not normal - i'm eager to know what it is ...

Yeah, lol, me too, now that I know it's an oddity, definately not border or corrupted (well, not corrupted above ground) - i'll post a screenshot tomorrow but it's 5am so enough mining for one night!

cave and overground are different layers - in W5 nuking we had corrupt overgrounds with working caves and vice versa

i think i got the same kind of area in two of our mines as well, but i thought it was within the range from the entrance, even though they are not close to the entrance itself... ill check it again for its distance later.

how far do you consider "too close to the entrance to mine" in general anyways?

i think it's still 50 tiles from entrance where you can't mine the walls tile

For you to mine a cave wall, you need to click on the wall that is at least 50 tiles from an entrance.

Hi Tonky, borka, - here is the screenshot - as you can see, I can mine the tiles closer to the entrance and from where i'm standing, just not the ones with the X's in.
I'll have to build more supports to investigate further, no time atm, only went in game to get the shot. There are no other entrances anywhere even remotely close and it can't be to do with my entrance as they are unminable in the wrong direction.

Any ideas?

That is weird, it cant be a border or have to do with a cave entrance. The edge would just be an endless line, and a cave entrance would end up being a big square... Not that goofily shaped thing.

Any idea if your near the corrupted areas?
