I can't seem to do anything besides crawl and i can't find any trees that arent already owned.

If you still have the Baby Blue Eyes effect, return to the ring and right click on the big stone in the middle, then "Switch Charterstone", then select Novigrad. Brodgar is an old spawn point so there's no trees left. Novigrad is very new so it has a lot of trees. Don't cut them down unless you really need the logs, though, they don't respawn on their own. And don't cut down immature ones, they give less lumber.

Anyway, if you lost the effect, go to ring, then head north. Where the skull on minimap is you'll find three crossroads poles. Right click the middle one, then click Novigrad.

If you can't travel to Novigrad, you'll have to make a new character and start there. There's a hatch on the floor in the character creation room, right click it then click on Novigrad.
