Time between new worlds

What are the estimated times a world will live for before a new one starts up?

Ideally.... devs have made statements that they'd like to never restart, but as this is considered an alpha level product, it seems to happen around 9 months on average. The shortest has been 6-8 weeks (world 4), the longest about 2 years (world 6, was about 2-3 months shy of the 2 year mark).

So it depends on big development changes or data corruption. How long has this world been alive for? A bunch of friends and I want to play again but we will be waiting for a new world.

here you can get clues how long worlds had been running

Experiences made in this world will help you in the next one - so it doesn't make much sense to wait for a new world

I suggest to just start playing again

Oh, we are old players from world 4 and 5. We originally stopped playing because the lag was unbearable but now since it is hardly noticable we are going to give it a go again. We already looked at the world map and all our ideal spots are taken or have much larger villages nearby. We will just be waiting patiently.

The world map is actually much larger than you can see. Not too long ago it was extended from 5x5 to a 7x7 supergrid map and the extra grids just haven't been mapped yet. I'd suggest starting out there as there hasn't been too much activity in those grids.

The map is out of date because no one is submitting data to it. As BM said, what you're seeing is only a part of the world.

One thing nobody has noted:

There's supposed to be a major update coming Soon™. There will likely be a world reset at that time, but as borka pointed out, if you want to play, play. Waiting for the next world to come out is just silly. You could wait a lifetime, and then you'll be in such a chicken run you're likely to get ran over if you do run into one of the big boys. Now, everyone knows where the major factions are camped, and with fewer players, there are more options. (And with claim decay after 30 days of inactivity, if you find a nice spot, you just have to break in and remove the old claim. You might even get a pre-existing base for less work.)
