No curiosities button?

I just started playing this game with my girlfriend a few days ago. This is not my first character. My previous characters can make cone cows, but the one I'm using to play with my girlfriend doesn't have a curiosities section under "craft". :x
Any fix for this? She can make it and she doesn't have as many skills as me, so I know I'm not missing anything, and making cone cows has no skill prerequisites anyway.

You don't get menu items until you start discovering the various materials around the world.

Are you sure you have picked a fir cone and a branch with your new char?

Don't feel like an idiot, I asked my fair share of what now seem like silly questions when I first started. :)

everything in the game really comprises of you discovering items and having the skill to do it.

e.g. u need to discover sand to get to glass, and though u'll get a discovery for the glass, without glass making skill u cant make glass items. etc.

@ OP: I bet at one point you were getting pissed off because your girlfriend could but you couldn't?
