I've been hoarding LP and looking for advice on where to take my character. Currently have around 85k LP. Thanks in advance!

If you play alone, go into Marksmanship to start hunting.

Make a sling and then you're ready to go.

Either way, if you just look for curios and stuff, and forage alot, raise your survival to gather high q stuff, and to get higher q skins, meat and bones when skinning/butchering animals.

I do play alone so I'll do that. Makes sense. Strength has nothing to do with Marksmanship right?

No it doesn't. Perception does however. (MINIMUM damage done with a ranged weapon is affected by your perception VS. your target's agility.) Which is good because perception also allows you to see more foragables.

Forgot to mention: Perception also affects the quality of most things you cook.

Keep raising perception/agility/con equally, strenght too just in case. If you will push only one skill you will have hard times raising it later on as fallen one behind.

As for attributes, as Juukin stated, marksmanship is the way to go, so you can easily kill animals. Raise survival up to 100 for now, so you do not softcap any deers/boars. (Ofcourse for that you would also need good q cutting tool), then focus on marksmanship, get some more UA as defence and that would be it for this step.

Thanks for all of the advice. I've taken on Marksmanship. I have that up to 45 with a 10Q sling. Having trouble killing foxes. Any tips or links to tips? Is this enough to kill boars as well? Thanks!

To answer, yes. Any is enough with marksmanship. It only dictates how fast you aim. The more, the better. Now, to explain the mechanic real quick, you only have an effective skill of 2x your sling quality, so the extra points mean nothing for now. You only aim as if you have a MM of 20 with a q10 sling. Pushing up more perception will help increase your average damage, too.

For hunting anything bigger than a fox, you'll want to do so from shallow water or a boat (or behind a palisade or brick wall) where the animal can't reach you. If not, they'll run you over and there's a good chance they'll kill you.
Opinions expressed in this statement are the authors alone and in no way reflect on the game development values of the actual developers.

Congratulations, you can now make a better sling. (You have got some carpentry to make a better tanning tub, right? You need at least 10, more as soon as you get a saw that's better than q10. And hopefully by now you've found some water that's also better than q10, use that - it looks like every 6 points of water q will give another q to the leather, so q22+ gives q12 leather if everything else is q10, and of course you can now find some better strings, you have 25 survival? So even if you can only get q10 leather, you can make a q17 sling). Q17 is going to be a vast improvement on q10! And you can totally kill a boar with it, bears not recommended because you may die of boredom.

That's how this game works. Repeat as soon as you kill a fox or boar, and again when you've got a bit more survival. Good luck.

Also, if you haven't got a decent axe and saw, have a poke around any trees near your local haunted house, I mean abandoned village. I've found q80 trees where a village claim has decayed, which is an instant boost to axe q even if you've only got q10 stones; doesn't boost saw q as much but if you're at the q10 level it'll be significant - and of course abandoned villages are also likely to have random bones lying around for a boost there as well (so don't forget to get your carpentry up).
