Fishing Line issues

Hey guys I'm having issues making a fishing line, I have gobs of Spindley Taproot, but it won't pop up in the fishing gear menu. I've crafted my hook, pole, and bait and equipped it all properly. But I still can't fish because I can't figure out how to make my line. I have Stinging Nettle too but the wiki says that's not a valid substitute in fishing lines. I hope this isn't a dumb question but can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong?

Did you try left click on the taproot and right click the pole?.

Oh my god! I knew it had to be something stupid simple! I feel so dumb now...
I was trying to craft the line, but it doesn't need to be crafted!
