A few questions .. assume there are more than one nodes in the area -
(1) does the prospecting result point to nearest ore of any type or does it look for just one type (eg iron one time, copper next time etc). I ask this because prospecting gave <direction 1 delta 5> on one day and <direction 80 delta 5> on another day from the same spot on the same tile. I am not sure of root QL but think it was in the range 28 to 30. (I think that root QL should not matter as the nearest ore should still be the nearest from the same spot no matter what the root QL).
(2) If nodes overlap what would the prospecting result say if you are standing over the "mixed" node as I believe it nominates the ore type. Might it say "no ore found"?
(3) from my limited understanding I believe that the ore is in the form of seams and not nodes. Do prospecting results point to the nearest center of the seam (that is to a point within the root QL determined scan area which has highest concentration of ore) or to the nearest edge which has ore in it? I cannot understand how the direction can change when you follow a prospecting path unless moving further along the path reveals areas of higher concentration.
(4) Has anyone proven that a prospecting result gave an incorrect answer. I am trying to establish whether once you get a direction from it would be worth dropping a mine hole and digging in that direction.
Thanks in advance to anyone who answers
