One character, or many alts together?

Postby Scutshakes » Mon Dec 30, 2013 1:30 am

New to the game and I am just curious if it is a better idea to make two or more alts live together that each specialize in a few things (i.e.: one for fishing/hunting, another for building, another for farming, or whatever combinations would be best for each) rather than have a single character trying to do everything, but with very little skill points in each. My first attempt at a character was fun, but I'm not sure how other people play. Are all these settlements with 3-4 hearth fires a single person, or really a group of friends?

What do you guys do?

Many alts specializing in specific areas is the ideal way to play this game imo.

If you are playing alone, and want to do well, then at least two characters are needed (one for nature, one for industry)

More than that help, but at the beginning it will be hard to feed them enough curios to make a difference, best to start with two and trade when possible for the things you lack, until you have a good enough economy to begin making specialist characters.

Edit; In my opinion of course, each person will tell you something different because it really just comes down to how much time you have, and how easily you pick up the game

Let us remind ourselves of his bravery and willingness to fight for the safety of his friends!
Let us hope he can surpass his previous achievements in his future lives.

At the very least you'll want an outdoors character and a character that never leaves the base. Pump foraging and combat on the first, and crafting on the second.

At the moment i am using alts. I just started so I tend to mess up a lot. My main stays home and keeps land and studies as my alts explore and try new things.
This keeps me from having to start all over again and again. Plus i can use my main's hearth to restart my alts so they are near my home area.
Keep in mind when meeting new people there is always a chance they will kill you. Having a main that stays in hiding means you can catch up faster after
a death since they can craft lost gear etc. I also tend to leave my most valuable items on my main and never log out in a bed. Keep in mind i am new and
there may be flaws in my plain that i have yet to learn but for now alts are the best way to go.

I suggest you do different alts on different accounts:
    Fighter
    Ranger
    Marksman
    Forager
    Hunter
    Farmer
    Weaver/Cook
    Miner/Smith/Jeweller
    Wallcheck
    Claydigger
    Builder
And alt with big cons for leaving scents on places where is lots of loot.
If you lose one character, its super easy to get it back while you have all else. And think about that you can fight ainran kill bears get curios farm mine kill troll check walls make moar brickwalls and cook some food at some time!

Pff, if you use your fighter as hunter somone can track you and kill. Except if you go hunt with big group.

Fighter = Main characters

Fighters can be used to hunt, what is the problem?

If you leave scents next to enemy. Then you decide go hunt some boars to make sausage. Suddenly enemy comes and kills you, what you do then?
