How do you protect your crossroads?

If I got it right, anyone with the right skills can walk into your village and destroy your crossroads.
Since these are most effective when they are outside your palisade/brickwall, what's a good way to protect them?
I was thinking building a fence around them, without gates, so at least the griefer would lose some extra hp having to destroy more things to get to it, but that's all I could think of.

What about you guys? How do you protect your crossroads?

well if i can remember it, just LS and Chief can destroy CR's or , if the Authority of this object is very low.

I mean an outsider, someone from another village with destruction skills.

Only 4 ways to break a crossroad pole.
1: LS or chief of the village the Cr is on.
2: a Battering ram. and Vandalism
3: Anyone with enough STR IF....I repeat....IF... said village drops below 50,000 Authority points.
4: Bear bashing.. ( although this has allegedly been fixed)

Anyone trying to break them any other way is just burning stamina.

I destroyed cr pole with a newb alt, there was no auth in village claim though, but i had very little strength.
