Initiative

Postby MrAlternative » Thu Jan 09, 2014 2:47 am

I'm attempting to learn the combat system, and blew a bunch of spare lp on pretty much most things relevant to unarmed combat because to hell with it
Anyways, many of the combat things I have involve Initiative, but almost always the initiative coin on the left side, and I never really have any initiative other than the number on the right side
What am I doing horribly wrong?

I have absolutely no idea what you're talking about. The only thing I can possibly think of are skills like Invocation of Skuld that have a higher initiative requirement than an actual cost, where requirement is 10 and cost is 3.

Initiative is otherwise very straightforward and simple: some skills, such as Charge and Dash, give you initiative points. These are represented by gold coins. Every gold coin is 1 initiative. Many combat skills, such as Sting and Knock His Teeth Out, have an initiative cost. They will tell you how many coins they cost and subtract that amount from you when you use them.

Float like a butterfly gives the enemy initiative. If you have that, I'm assuming you have charge, dash (and so on) too. Charge, dash (and so on, such as thunder, push the advantage, not sure if any other give) give initiative* to you (they give 1 initiative* to the left side each time you use them).
Float like a butterfly is a move that gives you all of it. Defense, attack AND advantage. It would be kinda silly if it didn't do something bad too, such as giving the enemy IP?
So yeah, you're using the wrong move.

*accidentally wrote advantage, ty grim
