Since when can chicken do this?

That egg hatched but it wasn't directly under a chicken. Does this mean that there's a new optimal chicken coop layout?

I think the egg must only be under the chicken for a while since today I harvested all eggs on my chicken coop and one of the eggs turned into a chick on my inventory!

I suggest to just not sort anything for a while and just drop fodder in to see how it works ...
